Each lockdown puts extra pressure on us. Only a few of us really thrive being home alone and isolated from their friends and wider family. In addition, it means that existing habits and routines are getting disrupted. Not only because facilities like fitness & wellbeing studios are closed, but simply because our usual daily routine is turnt on its head.
We believe that we all need to consciously work through the anxieties that can occur in those times. Including the worry of “lockdown weight”.
We used the time of working from home to review what simple biohacks can support you in case there’s another lockdown or simply in your everyday life.
When it comes to progression and maintenance of your overall health, vitality and wellbeing it helps to understand what tools you have available.
As a whole you could say a load of these tools that are available come from a toolbox called Biohacking; Biohacking is pretty much exactly what the name describes it as, it is hacking the biology of the body in order to enhance it.
Benefits of hacking the body’s biology can come down to things such as; decreasing your risk of developing a disease you may be genetically predisposed to, helping you achieve physical mental or emotional changes such as losing body fat, increasing muscle mass or decreasing anxiety/depression symptoms, and helping optimize bodily functions such as blood pressure, breathing or good gut bacteria.
Over a series of blog posts, we will share some Biohacking tools that you can use on a daily basis to achieve some awesome biological results while finding enjoyment in remaining accountable and consistent to your overall health, vitality and wellbeing on a daily basis.

#biohack – Intermittent Fasting
Intermittent fasting would have to be one of the best BioHacks out there and is a great way to stay on top of your nutritional lifestyle when it comes to things such as calorie restriction, giving your stomach a cleansing reset and becoming more intuitive with the food you are consuming.
There is no need for counting calories or macros when following a fasting lifestyle, the only thing you have to stay accountable for is the period of time you don’t consume calories and for the most part the quality of food or drink you put into your system during the times outside of your fasting periods.
Fasting has a massive array of health benefits such as; promotes the lowering of inflammation in the body, helping to control insulin levels, helping to repair the bodies cells by removing waste material from them, helping to promote longevity and decrease the risk of disease, it is also super beneficial in helping to increase your metabolic rate which helps to burn more calories and is also helpful in decreasing overall body fat percentage and harmful belly fat.
There is almost no reason why you wouldn’t want to try out this awesome biohack, but always remember that there is no such thing as an easy fix and consistency is always going to be the key in anything you do. Check as well our post with more detail on this topic.
#biohack – Consuming unrefined foods
One of the best decisions you could ever make in life would be to consume less refined foods as often as possible, we mean why would you not want to take advantage of real whole single ingredient food, the things mother nature intended for us full of different tastes, variety, colour, shapes and sizes? All provided by plants and animals.
A great analagy when it comes to processed vs unprocessed foods is “if you owned a high end sports car would you want to put the most average fuel in it or the the best fuel in it to keep the engine running optimally?” then why would you want to do the opposite for your body?
There are also loads of benefits to consuming unprocessed whole foods such as:
– lower sugar intake,
– higher fibre intake,
– higher nutrient intake,
– helps to keep a healthy heart and organs,
– better for the environment,
– helps promote good skin,
– contains more antioxidants,
– helps provide good fatty acids and healthy fats,
– cheaper in the long run and helps reduce risk of disease,
– helps with dental hygiene and
– is simply good for your gut.
Eating real food really is a no brainer for us when it comes to some of the best biohacks and achieving a healthier lifestyle.
